Line and Shape
What locations and subject matter did you use to shoot your photos?
I used the natural composition of the patio at my house. These pictures that are outside are just the way they were when I found them and it shows how even the things we walk past every single day can look beautiful.
Describe the photo you took:
This photo is a picture of the hose that leads out of my house. Its coiled shape and the shadows it gives off makes it interesting. Most people wouldn't think that a hose would make a good picture, but the way the patio was composed I decided it would be appropriate.
What is the distance in the shot?
For this picture i was about five feet away and a little bit underneath where the hose is from the ground.
What is the point of view of this photo?
For this photo I laid down on my stomach and looked up at the hose. The house looked odd if I looked at the hose from above, sort of warped, so I changed my position until i liked how both the hose and the house looked.
Are your photographs horizontal or vertical?
My photographs are horizontal because it cuts out the odd warping of my points of view and keeps in the backgrounds nicely.
Did you consider the rule of thirds?
Yes. The hose is the middle section, and that splits the area between the ground and the house, creating a three-sectioned picture.
Do you have any dynamic pictures?
The hose picture is dynamic; the tiles on the ground have lines that lead you up to the hose and then eventually the hose coils inward.

Pattern and Texture
Describe your best photo:
The best photo is the flag poleand its shadow because it creates very nice contrasts and patterns and its shadow
What is the distance in the shot? (How close or far away are you from your subject?)
I was probably around ten feet away from the flag pole but the bricks extended about five feet off of the flag pole.
What was your point of view when you took the photos? (from above, below, straight on...)
I was standing up straight and got an angle shot of the bricks on the ground.
Is your photograph horizontal or vertical?
This photograph is horizontal.
Does this photo follow the rule of thirds? Why or why not? (Describe)
This photo follows the rule of thirds because the bricks separate the field from the angled bricks that i was standing on.
Is this photo an example of pattern, texture and/or rhythm? Explain
Yes because the bricks and the shadow creates a separated and repeated pattern of bricks.
The Underexposed photo is the one with the shoe boxes because the fabric in the background is beginning to blend with the black shoe box.
The Overexposed photo is the one of the sunset because of the area where the sun is. The sun is so bright it is beginning to take away information from the clouds.
The properly exposed photo is the one of the flag pole because no information in the photo is lost to bad lighting.

Motion
Approximately what shutter speed did you use to freeze action?
To freeze action we used a shutter speed of 640, 800, and 1000 frames per second.
What ISO and WB settings did you use?
For when we were outdoors we used the setting for direct sunlight and when we were inside we used florescent light, using settings of 200 and 800 for ISO respectively.
What action did you freeze?
In the photo of Mitchell in the goal, the ball was shot and the photo was taken with the ball in the background. In the foreground, Mitch is in the middle of speaking and moving. The ball was captured mid flight and Mitch was captured mid-sentence.
What was your distance and point of view from the photo?
The camera was placed behind the goal post so that it was basically parallel to mitchell. The ball is about twenty yards away in mid-air, above the camera.
Describe any compositional elements in the photo.
Lines- the lines of the net are placed over the background, but not in a distracting way.
Rule of thirds- Field, bleachers, sky- the foreground, middle-ground, and background make up the rule of thirds and the photo is even more divided by the lines of the net as well as the goal posts themselves.
Approx. what shutter speed did you use to properly blur action?
1/13 is what we used for this picture, the one of me outside with the ball in the air.
What ISO and WB setting did you use?
Direct sunlight at the ISO of 200.
What motion, or part of the image shows blur?
The foreground containing me throwing a ball in the air is the blurred part of the image while the school remains static.
What was your distance/point of view for the photo?
For this photo I was about five feet away from the camera and my torso was about level with the camera.
Describe any compositional elements in the photo.
The rule of thirds in the vertical orientation.
There is pattern in the wall and in the arches in the background.
